Join Our Team and Help Change the World

Our Own Lives is seeking passionate and caring people to help us provide quality, affirming and empowering support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our Own Lives does more than simply provide services - we are dedicated to changing the status quo. For too long, people with disabilities have been denied access to our broader society and have endured decades of explicit and implicit segregation. Our Own Lives is dedicated to building equity, autonomy, and access to live truly fulfilling and integrated lives, and we need passionate people to further this cause. If you are an advocate, have lived experience, or have a passion for justice, we want to hear from you!

Our Own Lives staff act as ambassadors, mentors, and teachers while supporting people with disabilities to live life on their terms. We empower and build people up to support their own community, take leadership positions in our community, and be seen and valued for the work that they do.

Most of all, as an employee of Our Own Lives, we want you to have a space to live out the values that brought you into our doors and to never feel like you have to compromise those values.

Our Own Lives offers the reasonable accommodation process to all employees whether or not the employee has disclosed a disability. If we can grant the accommodation without undue hardship, we will do so. We do this for several reasons:

1) We recognize that people do their best work when that work can be tailored to their strengths,

2) Granting accommodations more frequently gets us better at identifying and suggesting effective accommodations, and

3) It reduces the burden on disabled people of disclosing a disability if they do not feel ready or worry about proving their disability status to request accommodation.
